Originally hired as a temporary employee, working just 2 days a week (Shipment Days). I then became a part-time stockroom employee. Eventually Shipper/Receiver and finally Stockroom Manager/Coordinator. Duties involved organizing the stockroom in a way that was both functional and appealing to the eye. Each position requiring more and more involvement. All product was kept in the stockroom, mainly just displays in the store. Duties also included "Stock Checks" for any item on the sales floor, which had to be accomplished in a timely fashion. While also being responsible for larger pick-ups at the back door. Which could be items weighing anything from 15 pounds up to as much as 800 pounds. Often all done by a single person. Thankfully I had a great core team, who I learned a great deal from during my time at Pottery Barn. Responsible for packaging/preparing ship-outs every morning. These would be things bought at the store and sent elsewhere. Became familiar with UPS shipping systems. Received 2 shipments per week of product. Box count anywhere from 50 - 3000. Usually unloaded with a 3-4 person team. For a period I was also in charge of making the schedule for the stockroom employees for each week. My stock team was about 20 - 30 people depending on the time of year. In charge of training them, scheduling as I mentioned. Utilizing their strengths in order to get shipment processed and on the shelves as quickly as possible. Involved heavily in coordinating inventory of the stockroom. Ensuring all items were correctly priced. Staying up to date on emails from corporate. Also took part in weekly meetings with the other managers. Discussing upcoming changes or day to day items. Involved with floor-sets, as far as having all furniture assembled and ready to take to the floor. As well as setting up the window displays. It was a never-ending game of Tetris.
I did stock work, and if a department was short or someone was sick, I did the duties of that department.
I cannot comment on my position, nor my duties as a Gibbstar Foundation employee.
